The awarding of associateships
is determined by the Department, in accordance with the
applicant's qualifications and the Department's needs.
The Department of Industrial, Interior, and Visual Communication
Design awards associateships under the title of:
Graduate
Administrative Associate (GAA)
Graduate Research Associate (GRA)
Graduate Teaching Associate (GTA)
Associateships are highly competitive.
A total of four to six are generally
available each year from the Department of Design. The
number available to first year students is limited, since
most are awarded for two years. There are typically Associateships
available in other areas of the University as well.
The amount of stipend provided with each associateship
is established annually by the university. In addition,
there is an accompanying tuition waiver.
In order to apply for an associateship, please indicate
your interest on the Departmental application, and include
information on your resume that indicates the education
and experience that qualifies you for consideration for
the associateship you are interested in. Before an international
student can be offered a GTA position, they must pass
the Test of Spoken English. This test is offered both
at OSU and internationally by ETS. Information about
this test can be found at http://www.esl.ohio-state.edu/SEP/Testing.html or http://www.esl.ohio-state.edu/
