Distinguished Educator - Class of 2005
The Apple Distinguished
Educator (ADE) program is a competitive program that honors "a
select group of exceptional educators who promote excellence in
education through the use of technology. Each award winner is recognized
as an outstanding pioneer in his or her field. This group of educators
(approximately 60 are selected each year) spans the globe from the
U.S. to Australia." An ADE is expected to embrace the the following
responsibilities that have already identified them as leaders:

Advocate the use of emerging technology
in teaching and learning
-
Provide assistance and best practices
for other educators and policymakers
-
Advise on the realities of integrating
instructional technologies
-
Publish authentic work
that showcases technology for the advancement of education

Global
Information Infrastructure GII Health Award
(Semi-Finalist - 1998)
The GII Awards, a non-partisan and independent initiative, recognizes
champions from all industries and sectors of society who
use the Internet and network technology to produce impacts
on society. The year of this award there were over 800 entries,
with 31 semi-finalists advancing in 11 categories. This was
awarded for contributions made in the ARPA-NASA project to
perform medical visualization using the NASA ACTS satellite.

Educational
Achievement awards recognize outstanding educational historical
projects, including programs, exhibits, audio-visual projects, and
publications that have educational content. Award winning projects
must meet the following criteria:

in providing educational information to an intended audience
- originality
or uniqueness in presentation
- creativity
and imagination
- solid
historical research
This
award was given for the design, creation, and maintenance of the
web site for the Grandview Heights/Marble
Cliff Historical Society, and for the liaison with the Grandview
Heights Schools for the use of the web site in their curriculum.
