Jim Kaufman is Professor Emeritous of Industrial Design in the Department of Industrial, Interior and Visual Communication Design. Professor Kaufman has practiced professionally at the NCR and Hobart Corporations, Roudebush Design Associates, and Ford Motor Company's Scientific Research Laboratories.

Professor Kaufman has held previous academic positions at Miami University, University of Cincinnati, University of Illinois, and Massey University, Wellington New Zealand.

Professor Kaufman has been a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1969. He currently serves as member of the Commission on Accreditation for the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
