3. Design Circle - Design Circle, a student affiliate of nationally or locally recognized design professional organizations, is a group of OSU students with an interest in visual communication design, interior space design, product design, and/or related fields. 4. Computer recommendations - A laptop is recommended, as we are using the computer more and more within the studios, and the portability makes this a useful decision. Whereas we don't have a huge bias toward one platform or another, the type of software used in each major area sets the tone for our recommendation. We have negotiated a price break with Apple for the Mac laptop, and with Lenovo for tthe Windows laptop. Students in Visual Communications should buy the Apple laptop; students in Industrial Design should buy the Lenovo laptop or the Apple laptop with the BootCamp software needed to run Windows XP; students in Interior Design can also choose either the Apple or the Lenovo. 6. Design 160 and 199 - Because of a reorganization of the Design curriculum, Design 160 is now numbered Design 200, and Design 199 is now the first course in a 3-course sequence related to drawing, and is renumbered Design 201.

7. Design degree - The undergraduate degree awarded by the Department of Design is the BSD, or Bachelor of Science in Design. The graduate degree is an MA or an MFA, depending on the students' choice.

8. Admission - Admission to the undergraduate program is competitive, and is based on the performance in a portfolio review and an entrance exam. For more information on the portfolio review, follow this [link]. Admission to the graduate program is based on admission first to the graduate school, and second by a successful review by the faculty of application materials and an undergraduate portfolio.
