The Department of Industrial, Interior,
and Visual Communications Design played a major role
in the recent awards competition sponsored by the Columbus
Society of Communicating Arts. CSCA’s Creative
Best event, held this year at the Columbus College
of Art & Design, is the top design competition
in central Ohio, celebrating the best in local creative
design, photography, illustration, and writing.
Awards were recently announced, and
included OSU Design students Mark Potnick, Kazuma Omura,
Michelle Byle, Alexa Andrzejewski, Mindi Davis, Greg
Aylsworth, Yutaka KogamiGeorge Waite, David Byers,
Christopher Garbe, Riley Raker, and Darwin Muljono.
In the professional category, alumni and lecturers
who were honored included Keith Novicki, Conor
McFerran, Megan Graham, Tery Rohrbach, Jenn Stevens,
Garrick Reischman, Brandon King, Aileen Aquino, Dave
Bull, Eric Shank, Matt Jeffries, Liz Kiefer, Peter
Gerstman, Corey Tomasso, Denis Bajec, Jesse Bulger,
and Ben Lamb.
Two of the four judges picked as their favorite the
Type in Motion entry of Mark Potnick.

In all, 173 entries
received awards. Ohio State students, faculty,
or alumni were represented on 59 of these awards, including
1 of the 3 Judges Favorite awards, both of the student
Best awards, 6 of the 9 student Excellence awards,
and 13 of the 40 student Merit awards, 1 of the 4 professional
Best awards, 8 of 22 professional Excellence awards,
and 28 of 95 professional Merit awards.
