Professor Susan Metros of the Department
of Design has been selected as the winner of the Columbus
Technology Council's prestigious 2003 Top Contributors
to the Advancement of Technology Awards in the categories
for Outstanding Educator Advancing Technology. Metros
is deputy chief information officer, executive director
for e-Learning and professor of Design Technology.
The awards ceremony took place on Jan.
22 at the Hilton, Easton Town Center. Governor Bob
Taft gave a special introduction and the keynote speaker
was Fred Sanfilippo, senior vice president, Health
Sciences and Dean, OSU College of Medicine and Public
Health. Emcee for the event was Andrea Cambern, news
anchor, WBNS 10-TV.
The Columbus Technology Council encourages
and fosters formation and growth of technology-based
companies and facilitates effective use of technology
to strengthen Central Ohio's economy. The Council is
the community's recognized center of specialized business
support for technology creators, providers, and adopters.
Prof. Scott Shim will be joining the Design Department in autumn quarter.
