Kelia Todd knew she wanted to be an interior designer since she was in eighth grade. Little did she know then that she would be the only black interior design student in the 2019 graduating class of Ohio State.

Interior Design students win Big Ten Design Challenge

The Big Ten student design challenge, hosted by the Big Ten Academic Alliance, was designed to bring student voices into the university space design process. All nine participating schools identified a space on their campuses, with similar criteria, that they wanted students to redesign. Student teams from across the Big Ten submitted 64 proposals from nine Big Ten schools
