Ashley Milan Brooks is a Dayton, Ohio native, an innovative Black woman, and an MFA Candidate in the Design and Research Development program. Her design passions range from making habitable spaces inclusive and aesthetically pleasing, while focusing on research and design initiatives for more progressive, sustainable, and thriving minority communities. She passionately believes that design impacts people on an emotional and psychological level that has yet to be universally considered or planned for, which in turn can fuel toxic cycles of inequality and discrimination that result in lower frequencies and less autonomy.
As she grows in her life and higher education journey, Ashley aims to begin diversifying the social design field with her lived experiences, unique perspectives, and optimism for what more sustainable trends could come in the future. Through collaboration, co-design, and empathetic living, Ashley will begin to make her mark on the world, while further learning about herself in the process.
