This October, the Retail Design Institute Ohio Chapter will be hosting a Pecha Kucha event for students interested in retail design. This will be a great opportunity for you to practice your presentation skills as you explore a retail topic of interest while in the company of retail design professionals.
Pecha Kucha, if you’re unfamiliar, is a presentation method that was devised to be concise and fast-paced; each presenter prepares 20 slides and is given 20 seconds to present each slide for a total presentation that lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Before and after the presentations, there will be time for students and professionals to network together.
As student members of the Retail design Institute we would like to invite you to participate as a presenter to share your millennial point of view on retail design (trends and thoughts of stores today or future thinking about retail) and exchange ideas with the Retail Design Institute (RDI) members and guests in attendance. We welcome presentations on any retail design-related topic including, but not limited to: store planning, design architecture, fixture design, lighting, color, material selection, retail brand strategy, graphic design, in-store experience, digital media, omni-channel, point-of-sale marketing and visual merchandising.
Because Ohio has such a strong retail design community, including one of the highest concentration of nationally-acclaimed design firms, RDI is working to engage with our schools to promote retail design as an exciting and dynamic career. Of course, your support is imperative! Our Pecha Kucha Night is an opportunity for students to gain valuable presentation skills and interact with professionals; we hope you will share this information with your fellow students and encourage them to submit presentations.
