Nickley and Snyder present “Affirmative Co-design” at DGDW design conference

Eighth international forum of design as a process: Disrupting Geographies of the Design World

Assistant Professor William Nickley and MFA candidate Camille Snyder presented their paper “Toward affirmative co-design: Accounting for intersectionality in LGBTQIA+ identity & lived experience,” co-authored with Elizabeth Sanders, Lauren McInroy, and Travis Scheadler at the 8th International Forum of Design as Process, Disrupting Geographies in the Design World, from June 20–22, 2022 in Bologna, Italy.

Their paper presentation (accessible online at https://go.osu.edu/dgdw2022) aligned with the conference theme, “Intersectional Design for an Accessible and Empowering World,” and included gender-affirming co-design approaches the co-authors have explored as part of an ongoing research study. That study, funded by the Ohio Department of Medicaid, aims to develop an educational training for health care providers to practice affirming care for Central Ohio LGBTQIA+ youth.
