The AeroVent Mouthguard is a smart mouthguard designed to assist athletes with managing their asthma. Athletes physically exert themselves on a daily basis, and with exercise being a trigger of an asthma attack, asthma management can be a moment of life or death. By tapping into the growing role that technology is playing in the sports industry and redesigning the inhaler from the ground up, the AeroVent Mouthguard helps prevent asthma attacks on the field and relieve athletes of their symptoms quicker than traditional inhalers.
The solution is broken up into two components: the AeroVent mouthguard and the inhaler.
The mouthguard is equipped with smart sensors that track the players heart rate and respiratory levels. This enables the player to be monitored on the sidelines via a mobile application provided to the coaching staff. Asthma attacks are prevented due to the staff being notified whenever a player is in danger of experiencing asthma symptoms, so that he/she may receive treatment.
In the event that an athlete requires medication, the inhaler can be used in conjunction with the mouthguard. In order to use, simply push the canister into the hole in the front of the guard. Designed into the mouthguard is a medication diffuser, which allows for the medication to be inhaled more effectively.
