Erik Evensen, Foundations Coordinator for 2012-13

The Department of Design at The Ohio State University is happy to announce the appointment of Erik Evensen to the position of Foundations Coordinator for the 2012-13 academic year. Erik will direct the instruction of Graduate Teaching Associates and lecturers in the first-year, foundations courses, and teach at the undergraduate level.

Erik is an Ohio State design alum, having completed his M.F.A. in 2009 in Design Research + Development. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts, 2001, in Studio Art, Drawing + Painting, from the University of New Hampshire, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, 2005, in Studio Art, Painting + Critical Theory, from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Erik previously taught at Ohio State as a Graduate Teaching Associate in 2007 to 2009. He has also recently taught as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Bemidji State University, Minnesota, and an Adjunct Online Faculty Member at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Erik is an award-winning designer, illustrator, graphic novelist, and educator. His work was called “innovative and groundbreaking” by Graphic Novel Reporter and has received accolades from Graphic Design USA, Ain't It Cool News, Nerdist.com, Geeks of Doom, and the Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

He regularly works as a consultant and freelance creative strategist with a number of studios, and is the owner and principal designer of Evensen Creative. Below is an image from a recent brand development project for The Harmony Co-op, a cooperative grocery store based in Bemidji, Minnesota.
