Hatch Show Prints at Ohio State

Hatch Show Prints
On February 20th, the Visual Communication Design second-year undergraduate students and graduate students, along with select faculty, staff, and instructors from the Department of Design attended a special lecture presentation at the Thompson Library Special Collections Reading Room. Jim Sherraden, owner and master printer of Hatch Show Print, utilized the OSU Curtiss Show Print collection (blocks, posters, heralds, and tickets) as reference materials to share his experience and knowledge of letterpress printmaking with the group. Nena Couch (Head, Thompson Library Special Collections) organized this special event and provided background information about the Curtiss Show Print collection.

Hatch Show Print is a Tennessee institution that has been printing concert posters for over 100 years. The shop uses classic wood blocks and prints each poster by hand, one color at a time.
