Search for Industrial Design faculty member launches

Position title: Associate or Assistant Professor in Industrial Design.

Qualifications: The Department of Design at The Ohio State University seeks a full-time, tenure track, Industrial Design faculty member beginning fall 2012. Candidates should have a terminal master degree (MFA, MS, MID, etc.), along with at least five years of relevant experience in teaching and/or serving the professional industry. Competitive candidates will possess an ability to balance theory and practice with a proven record of extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: computer-aided design, experience design, design thinking, user centered design, and design research. An established or clearly-emerging national and/or international reputation in the field is expected. Teaching will be predominantly in the Industrial Design major program, and undergraduate/graduate student advising will be expected. 3D computer-modeling (preferably Solidworks) and digital rendering expertise are expected for this position.
    
Responsibilities: The appointed faculty member will be expected to actively pursue research opportunities, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to Industrial Design in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. The faculty member will be expected to participate in curriculum development, engage in academic and professional service, and work collaboratively with internal and external research partners, organizations and corporations. The faculty member will also be expected to actively pursue funded research opportunities in his or her area of interest, and provide service at the Department, College, and University levels.

Appointment: Regular nine-month tenure track appointment at Associate or Assistant Professor level.

Salary: Negotiable and competitive, commensurate with experience.

It is a small and selective professional program with a respected reputation at the graduate and undergraduate levels, offering the advantages of a large and diverse research university.
