DESIGN 3402: Design Media I for Interior Design
Introductory-level digital, three-dimensional modeling and visualization strategies for Interior Design.

Prerequisite: Admission to Bachelor of Science in Design - Interior Design program; or permission of instructor.
Overview
This is an introductory interior design course with a primary focus on visual communication as it pertains to architectural spaces. This course is to provide students with tools in order to communicate ideas and concepts through visual representation.
Objectives
The objectives of this course include:
- The primary objective for this course is to demonstrate spatial awareness and design conceptualization through visual communication
- To establish an understanding of the following principles: Perspective, Visual Hierarchy, Scale, Proportion, Composition
- Familiarity with effective design processes to understand complex problems as a system of interconnected issues. (CIDA standards 8a, c, f, g)
- To understand the importance of objective visual communication, (CIDA standards 9d, e, f, g)
- To recognize and apply hand drawn interior design documents (CIDA standards 9d, e)
- To explore a range of two- and three-dimensional design solutions using a variety of media (CIDA standards 11b)
- To develop skills in rendering and understand the art and science of light and color in order to enhance the human experience. (CIDA standards 12b, i, j, l)
- To understand and apply principles of composition to space including dimensions, scale and proportions (CIDA standards 15a, h)
