Prerequisite: Admission to Bachelor of Science in Design - Visual Communication Design program; or permission of instructor.

Overview

Students in this course will lead this initiative by exploring how designers can incorporate XR systems within design processes to facilitate learning and decision-making, address identified problem spaces, and improve human-computer interactions. The course will cover the creative and technical concepts of prototyping XR experiences using Visual Communication principles, 3D computer graphics, and interactive media techniques. Students will develop skills in conceptualization, preproduction, planning, and production of interactive XR experiences.
 

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:
  • Implement design strategies to develop XR prototypes
  • Identify and address technical issues in the XR design & development process
  • Identify and develop strategies to address ethical, privacy, and safety concerns of XR
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with other designers

Software

  • We will primarily be using Autodesk Maya, Unity, and Adobe Creative Suite to complete course assignments
  • All three software can be accessed on ACCAD’s computers
     

Course Organization

This is a 3 credit hour course that meets in person twice a week
