DESIGN 4502: Interior Design Technology II
An overview of current and emerging materials, construction methods and manufacturing processes in Interior Design.

Prerequisite: Admission to Bachelor of Science in Design - Interior Design program; or permission of instructor.
Overview
This Course introduces students to interior design detailing and basic construction practices. Through section drawing students explore material problem solving and construction documentation. This includes construction terminology, evaluation of substrates, fasteners, hardware, best practices, and codes relating to detailing.
Objectives
By the end of the semester, students should be able to:
- Learn methods (standard and non-standard) terminology, and techniques of representing detailing choices in Interior design (CIDA standard 5b)
- Understand construction documents and be able to comprehend and produce documents relating to interior construction and detailing (CIDA standard15b,c,d,e,f,g,h,I,j)
- Have an awareness of typical fabrication methods and installation methods of interiors (CIDA standard 13b)
- Learn the important principles of construction knowledge as it pertains to materials and products used in Interior Design
- Evaluate, details and document different examples of standard interior architectural construction. (i.e. wood and laminate cabinetry, upholstered booths, non- bearing wall construction)

Course Organization
This is a 3 credit hour course that meets in person for 2:40 twice a week
