Abbigail VanHoose Awarded 2023 DSID Scholarship
At the 2023 DSID Scholarship Dinner, on March 29, Abbigail VanHoose, a third-year Interior Design student, was awarded a scholarship from The Dayton Society of Interior Designers (DSID), as well as an additional scholarship from Bockrath Flooring and Rugs (one of DSID’s platinum-level industry partners). The scholarships were awarded in recognition of Abbigail’s strong use of design terminology, innovative designs, creativity, and rendering skills. Beth Segal, Scholarship Chair, had stated during the banquet’s presentation that many of the designers who were attending the event did not know about the newer design principle, biophilia, which was a core aspect in Abbigail’s observed projects.
The Dayton Society of Interior Designers is a local association for interior designers in Dayton, Ohio and the surrounding communities. DSID members and their industry partners have an annual scholarship banquet to award interior design students, who are associated with the Dayton area, with scholarships in recognition of their academic design projects and their potential for the design community. To apply for a scholarship, students had to complete an application, an autobiographical essay about their interest, talent, and experience regarding interior design, and a slideshow presentation of their projects thus far.
