Department of Design Cosponsors Visit from Animator Ahn Jae-huun
From Sept. 22-27, The Ohio State University will welcome award winning Korean animator Ahn Jae-huun for a weeklong residency as a part of the 2024-25 Visiting Artists Program. Ahn’s work spans from animation on shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guy, to the creation of his own animation studio Meditation with a Pencil which focuses on 2D animated films depicting Korean culture, life, and traditions. In tandem with Ahn’s residency, the Wexner Center for the Arts is hosting Meditation with a Pencil: The Animation of Ahn Jae-huun which will feature a week of public events from Sept. 17-29.
As a cosponsor of the visit, the Department of Design at Ohio State is involved in multiple events taking place over the week. On Sept. 26 Associate Professor Kyoung Lee Swearingen will host Ahn Jae-huun in Conversation. The talk will focus on Ahn Jae-huun's craft and career experience in 2D animation, followed by a screening of his film Green Days, and finally a Q&A with Ahn facilitated by Professor Swearingen. The talk, screening, and Q&A are all free to audience members with a ticket.
Additionally, the Department of Design will hold classroom visits as well as artist led workshops with Ahn Jae-huun that are open to both undergraduate and graduate students as well as specialized sessions for design MFA students.
