Instructional Fabrication Lab Manager

The Instructional Fabrication Lab Manager serves as the instructor, supervisor, and manager of the Art and Design Instructional Fabrication Lab; teaches students to translate their artistic/design vision, ideas, drawings, and mock-ups into artwork and designed models using a variety of materials including wood and foam; must be a skilled woodworker conversant with laser cutting and digital fabrication including 3D printing; interviews, hires, trains, supervise, and evaluates all work study students; manages Instructional Fabrication Lab Assistant and all lab operations; collaborates with faculty in the Departments of Art and Design to train students on safe and appropriate use of equipment; must be able to work with a diverse population; performs technical and administrative functions related to the lab, including personnel management, equipment maintenance, inventory and purchasing, and management of budget. Position is full time (40 hours/week). Reports to Department of Art and Department of Design chairs.

Instructional Fabrication Lab Assistant

The Instructional Fabrication Lab Assistant reports to the Fabrication Lab Manager in the Departments of Art and Design Instructional Fabrication Lab; teaches students to translate their artistic/design vision, ideas, drawings, and mock-ups into artwork and design products, using a variety of materials including wood and foam; must be a skilled woodworker conversant with laser cutting and digital fabrication including 3D printing; trains and supervises student lab staff; collaborates with faculty in the Departments of Art and Design in training students on equipment; attention to safety and the ability to work with a diverse population; performs technical and administrative functions related to the lab, equipment, including digital technology, and inventory. Evening and weekend work. This is a 9 month staff position working September through May.
