Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Education

  • Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design at the National University of Singapore

Kahmin graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (Honours, Highest Distinction) in Industrial Design from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in May 2022. A dedicated and inquisitive designer, she has built a robust foundation in both design research and professional practice. During her undergraduate years, she co-founded a communication design studio within NUS, where she led interdisciplinary projects that combined storytelling, motion design, and systems thinking to communicate complex ideas with clarity and empathy.

Before pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Design Research and Development at The Ohio State University, Kahmin accumulated extensive experience working across Singapore’s diverse design landscape—collaborating with corporations, government boards, research studios, and consultancies. Her professional portfolio includes engagements with organizations such as the Health Promotion Board, Shopee, Foolproof Singapore, and various academic partners. These roles strengthened her ability to translate strategic insights into human-centered solutions, bridging communication gaps between institutions, technology, and everyday users.

Kah Min’s primary interest lies in designing innovative solutions that promote physical wellness and preventative care. She is deeply motivated by the global shift toward longevity and the growing need for design to contribute meaningfully to sustainable health and well-being. Her work explores how thoughtful design, rooted in empathy, accessibility, and evidence, can empower people to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Her design excellence has been recognized internationally. During her undergraduate studies, she received the Red Dot Design Concept Award (2023) for Verdure, a project exploring nature-inspired product systems, and the European Product Design Award (2021) for Tappi, a learning-through-play tool designed to support children’s motor and sensory development. These accolades reflect not only her technical competence but also her commitment to designing with purpose and care.

Today, as a graduate researcher and budding educator, Kahmin continues to expand her design practice through participatory and systemic approaches, using design as a bridge between people, research, and complex social systems. Her journey embodies a commitment to curiosity, collaboration, and compassion, values she carries into every project she undertakes.
