Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Education

  • Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design (Honors) at the National University of Singapore (NUS)

Valeska is a multi-disciplinary designer creating experiences across the realms of design. She believes that design is a catalyst for effective communication and progress, and that designers are facilitators who bridge gaps and connect the dots to innovate human-centred solutions.

Currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Design Research and Development at The Ohio State University, Valeska brings a thoughtful and systems-oriented approach to her practice, informed by both academic research and hands-on engagement with diverse communities. Her graduate work focuses on participatory research and human-centred design in healthcare through generative research methods. She explores the intersection of storytelling through design, product innovation and co-design, while also collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on projects ranging from healthcare to speculative futures.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts, Industrial Design with Honours (Highest Distinction) from the National University of Singapore, where her portfolio showcases a broad range of works ranging from product and systems design to visual communication strategies.

Valeska’s approach to design is rooted in critical inquiry and a commitment to equity, with close attention to context and lived experience. In addition to her academic work, Valeska continues to advocate for inclusive and participatory design processes that shift power to the communities she works with. She is particularly interested in how designers can serve as bridges between siloed disciplines and overlooked voices, ensuring that design not only solves problems, but also cultivates understanding to design for, by and with people.
