A one time use device that is marketed to supplement, not replace the current spectrum of load bearing climbing equipment. It is a load bearing piece of equipment that inflates to take the contour of a crack system.

The current paradigm in climbing protection involves forcing metal pieces into crack systems in rock, the Airbag allows for more surface contact with the rock. This makes for less of a chance for a piece of equipment to wiggle out of place while not bearing load.

A thinker and creative with strong roots in hands on play and work. Matthew Francis is interested in technical and tactful approaches to actualizing radically new ideas for product development. Matt is completing his Industrial Design education as an Environmental Scholar and will be contributing to the vibrant creative community here in Columbus.
