Even with the rise of social media, there has been a sharp decline in social connectedness in the last 20 years. This alienation is leading to other, more serious problems and can be linked to decline in mental health and other societal issues. alien•nation is a series of interactive installations promoting the formation of social bonds and being alone in a positive way to help reduce this feeling of alienation. Each unique installation provides an experience for viewers that is meant to inspire creativity and create a feeling of connection to the community. In addition to these installations, an activity book is available that can be taken home and used to inspire people in their everyday life and on the go. These installations and activity books create a sense of community involvement and bring light to the issue in a way that is inspiring and light-hearted, not serious or depressing.
