Art x Life are art-based live-work units located in Franklinton. By infusing residential and working spaces into the district, Art x Life allows local artists and designers to both work and live in the same space, at the meanwhile supports the artists community by providing free art classes.
Being close to the Arts and Innovation District, there are art events held weekly, creating a good cultural environment; having Idea Foundry nearby enables a good working environment for the Art x Life.
In terms of interactions between old and new structures, interior private porches on the second floor allows residents to connect with the view outside; and the interior lighting design brings the echo of the existing church inside.
JoJo (Menghan Zhou) is from Beijing, China, and has been studying interior design in the OSU for four years. After graduating this year, JoJo is going to continue pursuing graduate degree in RISD.
JoJo is now working for Moody Nolan as an intern. She likes hospitality design and is also interested in furniture design and materials. From her perspective, to be an interior designer is more of being a space conductor.
After finishing graduate school in two years, JoJo would like to explore more possibilities all around the world to work as an interior designer.
