Azalea is a health and community center for mothers in the Franklinton community designed to combat the infant mortality crisis. Azalea provides a safe space for women to come together, creating a community of mothers to help support one another. The once-engine house is full of flexible classrooms and home-like environments aimed to teach mothers in real-life settings. Classes range from infant CPR and counseling to nutrition classes for meals for both the mother and children.
While providing a safe space for women to learn more about becoming a mother, there is a daycare on the first floor where parents from the community can help watch over children while the women focus on bettering themselves and their children's lives. Azalea's goal is to inform and prepare women for motherhood and provide a community of women to help uplift and support themselves and Franklinton.
