‘Build—Up’ aims to creating a community for mothers and providing proper spaces that satisfy single mothers’ needs. 62.5% of households in Franklinton is single mother family with children under the age of 18. Those single mothers need to do both working and taking care of their children, but most of working environments do not allow them to do them simultaneously. The project, ‘Build—Up’ is a hybrid space that provides a working studio, a retail area, and a daycare center for single mothers and their children. While single mothers are working upstairs in the studio, the daycare center will take care of their children. Also, they can always go down to a play area of the daycare, watch their children playing, and use nursing rooms. The space will support single mothers to build their family up financially and build themselves up internally with having their children close to their work area.
