Checkpoint: Powered by Strava

Checkpoint: Powered by Strava

Industrial Design, 2020

The number of people riding in close proximity to cars is increasing. While drivers take both a written and road test, there is nothing to certify you are a safe or courteous cyclist.

Strava is the perfect platform to improve the safety of all road users since it already connects thousands of athletes through the spirit of healthy competition. It is a highly addicting social media service that gamifies exercise and normal riding.

Checkpoint monitors how you ride your bike, powered by Strava GPS data and your phone’s gyroscope, to assess how safe you are while riding your bike and assign a persistent safety rating for you to monitor while you improve as a rider.

The ultimate goal of Checkpoint is to create and grow communities of safe riders who will help and look out for each other, all while improving their fitness using Strava.
