Nourish Market
My project, Nourish Market, is a community-centered space located in existing Engine House No. 10 on Broad Street in Franklinton, Ohio. This market aims to alleviate food insecurity, promote healthier eating habits, and provide educational resources to empower residents toward better health and wellness. In partnership with local food organizations such as Franklinton Farms and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, the market will offer locally sourced produce, affordable grocery selections, and pre-packaged nutritious meals to create a consistent food supply for residents who struggle with access to fresh, healthy options. In addition to providing food, Nourish Market will serve as an educational resource. The space will feature areas for nutrition classes, workshops, and cooking demonstrations. These educational programs will focus on teaching residents how to make healthier food choices, budget effectively for groceries, and cook nutritious meals at home. This interactive approach aims to build skills and confidence, empowering individuals to take control of their health through diet and lifestyle changes. The design of Nourish Market will be centered around creating a welcoming and supportive environment. By combining food access with education and community engagement, Nourish Market aims to create a lasting impact in Franklinton by improving their overall health, reducing food insecurity, and building a stronger, more resilient community.
