Abstract:
Advances in voice interaction technologies for smart devices are bringing hands-free and natural ways of communication to our daily life. However, most older adults have not fully embraced this emerging technology because of mental and physical constraints that limit their access to it. It is essential to learn how technology can adapt to the aging group.

The research goal is to explore how to design Voice User Interfaces (VUI), both with and for older adults. Through the participatory method, actively involve older adults to help ensure the design results meet their needs. The study aims to learn how to construct an applicable co-design process for them. The results of this research are expected to inform the development of a design framework for the application of VUI, that can be applied in the creation of better and more meaningful communication experiences for older adults.
