Creative Restore

Creative Restore

Aidyn Jones

Interior Design, 2023

The thematic focus of this project is Health and Wellness. Partnering with Franklinton's existing addiction recovery services, Creative Restore serves as an additional therapy outlet to provide a safe facility to support groups currently recovering from drug addiction; encouraging discovery and healing through creative expression like movement and art. By creating an environment that emphasizes healing, creativity, and restoration, the design of the space symbolizes, supports, and pairs the recovery process with the creative process; using design including curvilinear walls, flexibility, calming materials, biophilic elements, and open yet intimate spaces to feel both free and safe. It resonates with forms that embrace and feel inclusive, but are private and hold sacred time for people to express their emotions through art and movement.

The gallery houses artwork on circular and curved walls. Since artwork cannot lay flat against a curved wall, a custom cable hanging display system is featured along the back curved wall and the cylinder walls in the center of the gallery.

The hallway from reception leads back into the art and movement studios squeezing occupants into the back of the space.

The workspace is flexible enough to house an array of activities and still provide a creative space where users feel inspired. The biggest thing in this room is its connection to nature.

Featured in the art studio is the creative corner. An area for occupants to relax and connect with the nature outside of the large window.

The movement studio can house both movement sessions, like yoga, and group therapy sessions. This space is completely open, with a lot of access to natural light.
