Industrial Design, 2021

The abrupt change from in-person to remote education in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 has thrown millions of teachers into strenuous situations during the 2020 school year. Emergency Remote Learning, in comparison to in-person education, is not engaging, cognitively challenging, or appropriate for student assessment.

Introducing DigiClip, a smart pad designed for instantaneous student assessment in the virtual classroom. Designed for Kindergarten-2nd grade students, DigiClip instantly transmits paper writing and multiple choice answers directly to their teacher during video conferencing. The smart pad incorporates pen-to-paper digital capturing technology and a blue-tooth connection to capture and track student progress in real-time. DigiClip’s simplicity and visual cues allow for an uninterrupted experience, making it easy for all to use.

Inspired by the creativity and perseverance of so many educators, DigiClip is designed to make the most of unprecedented times. No matter the learning environment, DigiClip’s mission is “no student left behind.”
