Be Aware, Be Safe
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Level I Trauma Center title requires that institutions do community outreach addressing their top two forms of injury that enter the Trauma Department. Be Aware, Be Safe is a campaign brought forth for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. This campaign is proposed to run during the month of November to bring awareness to the top three injuries that enter through the Trauma Department based on the Trauma Registry. The three topics covered are: Falls, Motor Vehicle Crashes, and Violence. Social media will be used to promote safety tips using BuckeyePaws™ Therapy Dog Ashby!
Ashby works for The Ohio State University BuckeyePaws Program. The BuckeyePaws Therapy Dog Program at The Ohio State University provides emotional support and comfort to students, faculty, and staff through interactions with trained therapy dogs. The program is part of the university’s efforts to promote mental health and well-being across campus, offering a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can take a break, de-stress, and enjoy the calming presence of the therapy dogs. Ashby will bring audiences to the OSU Wexner Medical Center social media pages where they will learn how to avoid falling, how to lower risk of motor vehicle crashes, and promote resources to prevent violence. The posts on social media will then guide users to their website which shares more safety tools and helpful resources.
