The Every Bug Has a Talent Classroom Kit is designed to teach young children valuable empathy skills that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.

The system starts with the Every Bug Has a Talent book, which highlights the specialties of often “hated” or “gross” bugs, showing that even the tiniest beings are important and valuable. At the end of the book, workshop pages prompt the children to think about how these ideas might work in their everyday lives, and how their actions affect the emotions of those around them.

To go along with the book, the fun, tactile illustrations are carried over into workshop pages for the classroom and an interactive poster for the teacher to lead empathetic talks in everyday lessons.

Jodi Zatezalo has a passion for design in all forms. Though she studied Visual Communication Design at OSU, her hope is to use the design principles she learned to work on exhibition design. When not working formally, she practices bookbinding in her spare time and would like to start a small business someday.
