Thesis Abstract:
An experience design framework for brand design development sets out to bridge the two focus areas of visual communication and design research. Jason Duffield, drawing from many years of experience in branding and visual communication design, and using insights gained from participatory design workshops, hopes to capture the experiences of The Ohio State College of Social Work from a group of invested stakeholders, namely current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners. The insights gained from this participatory research will be analyzed and used to create brand promises and brand language that will be demonstrated through print and digital media.
Jason Duffield is a proud West Virginia native and visual communications expert. Originally trained in graphic design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh (Associate in Specialized Technology, 2001), Jason established a career working in the design field for over 10 years before returning to school as a non-traditional student and earning his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University (BS Design, Visual Communications 2017). Jason has continued working in the field of graphic design and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Design Research and Development. In the future, Jason hopes to continue his work in the graphic design field and begin teaching the next generation of visual designers.
