Franklinton is seeing an unprecedented level of interest and investment that is transforming Columbus’s oldest neighborhood, and one of its most neglected. While still an up-and-coming community, Franklinton faces several issues surrounding poverty and homelessness. Located at 555 West Town Street, The Franklinton Arts and Resource Center bridges the gap between community members of various socioeconomic backgrounds by offering an environment that brings people together.

In seeing the ties between art and the revitalization of Franklinton, one theme rings true. Community builds the artists that build Columbus. The most important aspect of the center is an emphasis on art therapy as a tool to escape day to day struggles. The center also offers the resources needed to help those working toward a better future, including shower facilities, laundry, GED education, interview practice, and more. By bringing artists and community together, this space creates a safe environment for Franklinton’s street situation people to gain the resources they need and express themselves in a non-judgmental atmosphere.
