FranklinTones, Center for Musical Art and Innovation
Daniel Wright
Interior Design, 2017
Franklinton is a historical place that has great potential to become a significant redevelopment for the Columbus area. The recent arts and innovation in the area have brought with them growth and change to a previously stagnant area.
The abandoned building I have chosen to revitalize is the old Greater Christ Apostolic Church on McDowell street. This lot sits within the area of East Franklinton considered the “Arts and Innovation Neighborhood.’
There was an opportunity with this project to provide a unique solution to the area that succeeds within the realm of arts and innovation. The intention is to catalyze social, cultural, and economic growth.
FranklinTones provides:
Music education, private/group lessons, access to studio space/technology, and limitless live music performances.
The design provides:
Balance between old and new, architectural rhythm, acoustic success, natural light, and flexibility of space.
