Greenie is an iPad application designed to help kids learn and form habits of recycling at an early age. By leveraging the current trend of iPad use in the classroom, grade school children are able to begin learning through the device without a barrier. Greenie uses silly rewards to create motivation for kids to return to the application. Instead of discouraging wrong answers, the module characters only react when the user supplies the correct action. At the completion of a module, they are greeted with a new silly badge and the option of sharing the news with others. Along with visual prompts, this learning system helps reinforce key recycling tasks for learning retention and habit formation. Greenie teaches the next generation about the complexities of recycling and how to become life-long stewards of this place we call home.
