Boutique hotels exist in most big cities, but Columbus lacks in that category. The experience that boutique hotels offer would fit in with the events in the Columbus area. Boutique hotels are generally owned or operated by individuals or companies, and blends well with townhouse style living.
Central Columbus has many events year round that attract many people to the city to explore and enjoy. When these events occur, visitors have a difficult time finding an adequate and efficient place to stay. A boutique hotel would provide an ideal solution. Columbus also has an array of businesses with workers coming here on business trips or getting transferred for work with no where to go in the transition phase, which the hotel or townhouse would accommodate.
This building is designed to meet all the needs of people enjoying or moving to Columbus and blends the boutique hotel and townhouse experiences together. It features a business room, laundry facilities, a fitness room, public bar on the first floor, two floors of six hotel rooms each, four townhouses, and a rooftop terrace. Although this building has a vintage look on the outside, the inside is designed in a contemporary style. The main feature of this building is the light well that comes all the way through the middle of the building and illuminates the bar on the first floor. With the thin structure of the building, an alternate light source was needed in some of the rooms that do not have access to a window.
