Makeshift Society
Emily Heslop
Interior Design, 2019
Makeshift Society introduces the high school population of Franklinton to project-based learning and entrepreneurship opportunities. It is a program that pairs students with mentors in order to build traditional curriculum skill sets in a way that is hands-on and project-based within a studio culture. Project-based learning reiterates the fact that design is not just for people who consider themselves to be creative. Creativity is something that exists within all of us and has proven time and again to be an incredibly valuable resource for people of all backgrounds. Each month, a new, locally based challenge will be taken on and it is up to the students and their mentors to generate creative solutions that can and will be directly implemented into the Franklinton community.
