The US alone has seen the number of people identifying as digital nomads double in the past three years, seeking an alternative to the traditional sedentary office workspace. Being such a new field, with the term “digital nomad” only coined in 1997, there are still countless unknowns and prevalent pain points to be discovered.

The space’s core problem areas point towards technical issues such as finding fast, stable Internet, the best deals on housing, and maneuvering international work/travel laws. The number one reason people are leaving this profession however is because of loneliness.

Rom’s core mission is to engage remote-workers with a digital network to inspire collaborative job opportunities and social connections supporting the nomadic lifestyle.

Christian Baker is a 2022 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication Design and a Minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Often looking at the world through his lens, he uses his experience as a photographer to look at projects from new perspectives and exercise problem-solving skills, adapting between each new assignment and client.
