SIGNAL Intelligent Bicycle Light

Industrial Design, 2016

SIGNAL is an intelligent bicycle light working to combat cycling collisions. In 2013 there were 48,000 injuries and 743 fatalities to pedal-cyclists due to motor vehicle accidents. 39% of these fatal crashes happen during low light conditions between 6:00pm and 12:00am. To combat these statistics, SIGNAL increases visibility and informs drivers and pedestrians of your intended movements. Sensors that read you determine whether you are turning or braking and if it is a low lighting condition. With a simple rotation, the head of the light can be directed to the rear to accommodate straight and drop bars. SIGNAL is a handlebar-end cycling light that is designed to be as intuitive as riding a bike.
