MFA Design Research and Development, 2017
Thesis Abstract:
The work displayed at this exhibition talks about Hemu's research journey and preliminary findings so far, the connections participants form with their co-participant and herself. The research is conducted over a longer period than one would find in the industry, with intent to allow the participants to get more comfortable, trust and bond with the others involved in the research in order to share their stories in an honest manner.

Hemu Venkataraman is an architect by professional training and qualification (from MEASI Academy of Architecture, Madras), artist and poet by passion; she is currently working on integrating her skills and qualifications towards social practice. She is working on generating a new tool in Generative Design Research and Participatory Design Research through the use of an analog form of communication (like the picture postcard) to elicit more honest narratives from the local community, to discover opportunities and solve problems in socio-cultural design spaces.
