The population of Columbus is incredibly diverse yet this is not reflected in local parks and green spaces. Many people lack the transportation, resources and knowledge needed to access and enjoy these spaces. Due to historical contexts and current social climates, many individuals from minority groups feel excluded from the outdoors.

Spark is a marketing campaign that aims to increase engagement in the outdoors by making these spaces more inclusive as well as culturally relevant. We want to help people recognize both the physical and mental health benefits of spending time in nature. Additionally, we want to encourage people to bring their own passions to the outdoors while exploring new interests. By partnering with local organizations such as COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) and Stonewall Columbus we can provide increased accessibility and opportunities.
