High-end tourists commonly frequent long-haul airfares, but airports are seeing a trend in average travelers increasingly booking 10+ hour flights. Are travel service providers equipped to welcome and accommodate these thousands of new passengers? Air travel faces the problem of a deteriorating quality of customer service and travel assistance as the number of passengers increase. Newer technologies such as touchscreen and self-servicing kiosks provide improvements to the flight experience; however, these implementations overlook the problem at its source: human services and person-to-person interaction. The industry needs to design around the human condition of airfare, emphasizing for a successful process and experience that accommodates all travelers.
