Due to a multitude of social and economic factors, public high schools are largely unequipped to appropriately meet the academic, emotional, and social needs of their students. One avenue in which that shortcoming crystalizes is school counseling, where we see a growing disparagement between the student-to-counselor ratio. Enter Tandem.

Tandem is designed to serve as a hub for meaningful counselor-student interactions long after their 1-on-1 session has finished. By allowing counselors to take notes, collaborate, and overview students’ counseling history all from one place, Tandem re-imagines school counseling into an intuitive and connected collaboration between students and counselors. Just out of the MVP’s reach is a student’s interface - a space capable of communication, tracking goals, and re-visiting past sessions.

Outlined goals and spoken advice are no longer confined to the office. With Tandem, your student’s success plan is theirs to keep.

Ivan Kostovski is a creative thinker and problem solver based in Columbus, with a Bachelor of Science in Design in Visual Communication Design and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. His design work is driven by his belief in the democratization of knowledge as an intrinsic good - inspired by his experience as an immigrant and first-generation college student. Ivan sees research-backed and human-centered design as the philosophy & tools most capable of bringing forth a more comfortable, accessible, and just world.
