VersaPole

Industrial Design, 2020

Born of research and co-design activities conducted with members of the Columbus firefighting community, the VersaPole is an answer to major problems of traditional pike poles. With a nonslip grip, oversized controls for use with gloves, and a robust intuitive design firefighters can depend on the VersaPole to help keep them and those they serve safer. With a modular handle and the ability to adjust to different lengths as well as accept tools of different profiles the VersaPole offers unheard of versatility. With hands-free carry, lighter weight, and compact collapsed length it offers the portability needed to navigate even the most chaotic fires. The VersaPole uniquely answers the issues of past designs, guaranteeing engine crews that the pole they need is with them when they need it, and not left behind on the truck with the rest.
