The Wright Connection CoWorking Hub

Industrial Design, 2022
The National Aviation Heritage Area challenged Ohio State’s Desis lab with creating an outdoor workspace for anyone living or visiting the Wright Dunbar area in Downtown Dayton. The goal was to create a space that was accessible to anyone encourage those to collaborate and work together in a space that is reminiscent of the Wright Brothers.
The Wright Shade is one of three elements that makes up the Wright Connection CoWorking Hub. The goal of the design was to create a shade for the user to proctect them from harsh sunlight or rain. The other two elements were the sound/noise management (Mae Welty) and walkways/furniture (Allison Cashman). The space gives the residents and visitors of the Wright Dunbar area a place to work, collaborate, and connect by also reminiscing on the history of the area and the impact of the Wright Brothers.
