Industrial Design, 2021

XIU is a design project intended to help preserve traditional Kam embroidery skills. Kam Embroidery is an important cultural heritage of Kam ethnic. Under the challenge of industrialization, it becomes very vulnerable. XIU aims to create an engaging learning experience that encourages users to understand the stories behind the Kam embroidery, appreciate this art, and support this minority art. The product includes two parts, the physical embroidery patch and an online Kam Embroidery Museum app. In the app, users can interact with the patch, learn more about Kam Embroidery, and support the artisans' community. Through this project, I hope I can bring Kam embroidery back to the public's horizon, increase the embroidery product's sales, and help extend the life of these precious traditional skills.
