Little Steps Resource Center
The Little Steps Resource Center aims to serve as a vital hub for new mothers and their growing families in Franklinton, Ohio. This center will leverage the unique assets of the surrounding community to provide essential resources and support for mothers that are expecting and their young children (ages 0-3 years). Recognizing the critical role that early childhood experiences play in a child’s development, the center will promote a multidisciplinary team approach that will educate about infant and child health, educational readiness, and encourage mothers to engage in healthy play with their child. By empowering mothers as one of their children’s first teachers in life, this center will aim to create a supportive environment that nurtures both parental and child development. The Little Steps Resource Center is housed in the building of Engine House No. 10, which has a variety of zones to meet its users' needs. The first floor is fully dedicated to four daycare classrooms, each classroom accommodating a range of age groups and their learning needs. The second floor is dedicated to the mothers’ needs as there is a women’s learning kitchen for teaching mothers how to cook nutritious meals, lounge space for moms to connect and outpatient clinical rooms for women to get all their healthcare needs taken care of. This resource center is meant to be a convenient hub for mothers and their children to come to, prioritizing their health and wellbeing as they navigate growing older together.
